Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance, President of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the Award secretariat published three new electronic books, the first is entitled (Winners’ Book -Fourth Issue 2018-2019-2020) and a second book is entitled (International Marketing of Dates: A mainstay of the sustainable development strategy for the date palm sector) and the third is entitled (Our Harvest 2007 - 2020) in Arabic and English, as part of a series of specialized annual publications that have become part of the basic information sources from which the relevant authorities draw and follow up over a period of thirteen years.

His Highness Sheikh Nahayan also thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE "may God protect him", the Patron of the Award, and  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces for his unlimited support, and  His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs for his good guidance and follow-up to the achievements of the award at the local and international levels. His Highness added in the introduction to the Winners’ Book under the title of Zayed's footsteps…that after 12 years of success and leadership achieved by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation in the date palm and agricultural innovation sectors, we are proud of the great accomplishments of the award at the national and international levels. To celebrate the year 2020, as we stress the importance of the role of the Late Sheikh Zayed, "may God bless his soul," as he laid the first foundation to support and develop the date palm cultivation and agricultural innovation sectors in order to achieve sustainable development.

The International Date Marketing Book included a comprehensive study that analysed available data on the development of date production at the international level during the last ten years and the extent to which countries producing dates in the Middle East and North Africa benefit from this opportunity to develop their exports of this strategic innovation. The study showed that the increase in production exceeded 16%, as in 2017, the production exceeded eight million tons of dates, while the export rate increased by only 13%, which indicates that the amount of surplus dates, including domestic consumption and losses, increased by 12% and exceeded 6 million Tons. If the situation remains the same during the coming years, the percentage of surplus will be much greater due to the significant expansion in date palm cultivation that many date producing countries have known in recent years.

While,Our Harvest book was published as a monitoring of all the Award’s achievements for thirteen years (2007-2020), Dr.  Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary-General of the Award, stressed that the Award formed a milestone in the development of the date palm sector and agricultural innovation at the national and international levels, and the Award is proud of its achievements that contributed to fulfilling the vision of leadership and strengthening the leadership position of the UAE in the development and advancement of the date palm sector and agricultural innovation in the world.
